About SceneHai
SceneHai is a hyperlocal meetup app from India. It helps people find small, real plans happening near them, and join the people going.
The name
"Kya scene hai?" is how friends in India ask "what's the plan?". SceneHai answers that question for everyone nearby: open the app and see what's happening around you tonight or this weekend.
Why I started SceneHai
When I left my hometown for my first job, I moved to a city where I barely knew anyone. For the first time I had a salary of my own, and I quickly learned that money can't buy you someone's time.
I wanted to try new cafés, find a gym partner, go on weekend trips. My old friends were busy with their own lives, and every plan in our group chat ended with "let's see".
So I looked for apps to meet new people. Most of them were dating apps in disguise, and the rest wanted me to pay before I could even say hello. I didn't want to pay to make friends. I wanted to find people nearby who were already going somewhere, and ask, "Can I come too?"
That's why I built SceneHai: to turn the people around you into friends you haven't met yet, so that anyone, anywhere, can ask "What's the scene tonight?" and find one.
What it fixes
In Indian cities, plenty of people want to play a sport, try a new café, learn something or just meet new people. But plans die in group chats, friends are busy, and meeting strangers feels risky. SceneHai makes small plans easy to find and safer to join: every plan has a purpose, a place and a time, the host decides who comes, and people build a record of actually showing up.
How it works
- Someone posts a Scene: a small plan, such as cricket on Sunday morning, a founders' coffee, a board-game night or a food walk.
- People nearby request to join. The host accepts or declines. Accepted guests get a group chat and the meeting details.
- Everyone meets and checks in at the spot. Over time, each person builds a Shows up score.
Every Scene says where it happens: a public place, a private place (only the area is shown until the host accepts you), or online. Read more on the Safety page.
