Trust and safety

Safety

Meeting people you don't know yet should feel sensible, not risky. Here is what the app does, and what we ask of you.

What the app does

You ask to join. The host says yes.

Nobody is dropped into a group of strangers. You request to join a Scene, and the host sees your profile before accepting. Hosts can also make a Scene women-only or men-only.

Every Scene says what kind of place it is

  • Public place A café, turf, park or other venue anyone can walk into. The best way to meet someone for the first time.
  • Private place Someone's home or another private address. You see only the area; the address is sent to you after the host accepts you. Hosts must verify their phone number, and private Scenes are never one-on-one.
  • Online A gaming session or study group. The join link goes only to accepted people.

Your location stays yours

The app uses your location while it's open, to show what's nearby and to confirm you arrived. It is never shown to other people and never tracked in the background. For private Scenes, even the distance shown is measured to a rounded point, so nobody can work out a home address from it.

You can see who keeps their word

The Shows up score is built from proof: checking in at the spot, the host's roll call, and guests confirming the host came. People who cancel late or don't turn up lose it. You see a host's score before you ask to join, and hosts see yours.

Report and block, everywhere

Every profile and every Scene has a ⋯ menu with Report and Block. A blocked person can't join your Scenes, and you won't see theirs. We read every report and remove people who break the Community guidelines.

It isn't a dating app

Every Scene starts with a reason to meet. One-on-one Scenes are only allowed at public places.

What we ask of you

  • Meet in public the first time. Save private Scenes for people and hosts you already have reason to trust.
  • Look before you join. Read the host's profile and their Shows up score. Ask a question on the Scene if something is unclear.
  • Tell a friend. Share where you're going, with whom, and when you expect to be back.
  • Get yourself there and back. Don't depend on someone you just met for your ride home.
  • Keep your own counsel. You never owe anyone your number, your address or another drink.
  • Leave if it feels off. You don't need a reason. Report it afterwards so we can act.

In an emergency, call 112. Women's helpline: 181. Then tell us at hello@scenehai.com.

What we can't do

We don't run background checks or verify identity documents, and we aren't present at Scenes. The tools above lower the risk of meeting new people; they don't remove it. Use your own judgement, every time.

Common questions

Is SceneHai safe for women?

SceneHai is built so you stay in control: you choose which Scenes to ask to join, hosts can make a Scene women-only, every Scene shows whether it's at a public or private place, and private Scenes are never one-on-one. You can block or report anyone in two taps. No app can promise safety, so we also ask everyone to meet in public first and tell a friend their plan.

Can strangers see where I live or where I am?

No. Your live location is never shown to anyone. If you host at home, other people only see the area, like “Near Sector 48”. The address is shared only with guests you accept.

Does SceneHai verify people?

Everyone confirms a phone number and an email address, and one phone number can only have one account. We don't run background checks or check ID. A verified badge means the person controls that phone number, nothing more.

Is SceneHai a dating app?

No. Every Scene has a purpose, like playing a sport, networking or learning something, and using SceneHai to hit on people is against the community guidelines.
