How we treat each other

Community guidelines

SceneHai only works if meeting someone new feels safe and worth it. These are the rules that keep it that way.

1. Be real

  • Use your own name and your own photo. One account per person.
  • Describe your Scene as it really is: what you'll do, where, when, and who pays.
  • Pick the intent and tags that honestly fit. A sales pitch is not "Make friends".

2. Show up

  • Only ask to join if you plan to come. Hosts are counting on the headcount.
  • If something comes up, cancel in the app as early as you can and say why.
  • Check in when you arrive. Hosts: take the roll call fairly. Marking someone absent out of spite is against the rules.
  • Don't fake attendance. Fake-location apps and passing on the host's code are bannable.

3. This is not a dating app

People come to play, learn, eat, build and make friends. Don't use Scenes, questions or chats to hit on people, ask for personal contact details from someone who hasn't offered, or keep messaging someone who has stopped replying. No sexual content and no solicitation of any kind.

4. Respect everyone

  • No harassment, bullying, threats or stalking.
  • No hate or discrimination based on religion, caste, gender, sexuality, region, language, disability or anything else.
  • Women-only and men-only Scenes exist so people can feel comfortable. Respect them.
  • "No" is a complete answer, whether it's a declined request or a guest leaving early.

5. Keep each other safe

  • A home or any private address must be marked Private place. Never mark it as public.
  • Don't share a private address, "the clue" or a join link with people who weren't accepted.
  • Don't pressure anyone to drink, to stay, to share a ride or to move to a second location.
  • Nothing illegal at a Scene: no drugs, no weapons, no drink-driving.
  • Don't share someone's photos, chats or whereabouts outside SceneHai without asking them.

6. No spam, no selling

  • No advertising, paid promotions, MLM, recruiting or lead collection dressed up as a Scene.
  • Venues and businesses are welcome through a claimed venue profile, not through fake personal accounts.
  • Don't post the same Scene again and again, or send follow requests in bulk.

7. Venues you add

Only add real, public places, with their correct name and kind of place. Never add a home as a venue. Your username is shown on venues you add.

8. If something goes wrong

  • Report a person or a Scene from the ⋯ menu. Tell us what happened; we read every report.
  • Block anyone. They can't join your Scenes, and you won't see theirs.
  • If you are in danger, leave and call 112 first. Tell us afterwards.

9. What we do about it

Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, warn, limit what an account can do, suspend it, or ban it for good. Threats, sexual harassment, hate, faked private/public labels and anything that endangers someone lead straight to removal. We may also pass information to the police when the law requires it or someone is at risk.
